I’m a Colorado-based visual artist working in oil and cold wax. My work blends realism and abstraction, exploring atmosphere, contrast, and the quiet tension between what is revealed and what is concealed. I’m drawn to light, texture, and the way an image can feel both familiar and mysterious at the same time.
Layering is crucial to my process. I build surfaces over time, allowing underlayers to remain visible—exposed, softened, or partially obscured. These layers create depth not just visually, but emotionally, holding traces of earlier decisions and moments within the painting. What emerges is a balance between control and discovery, where the final image is shaped as much by what is left behind as by what is added.
Working in this space between abstraction and representation allows me to explore the edges of recognition—where a form begins to resolve, or dissolve. I’m interested in that fleeting moment of seeing, when something comes into focus and then shifts again, inviting a longer look.
My paintings have been included in juried exhibitions across Colorado and New York, are held in private collections nationwide, and in 2020 I shared my process as a demonstrating artist at the Denver Art Museum.
